Quit smoking…When does the Quit Process Begin

May 20, 2014 by
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smoker

At a guess I assume you think that the quit process starts the moment you consciously stop cigarettes.

But from a hypnosis perspective, it starts much earlier than you last cigarette. If done properly the process begins with a website or brochure. It should draw you in and start to create mental images that begin to prime you to think and feel a certain way.

Because you have become immune to scary quit smoking images, it’s most likely the positive images and words which will have the best effect.

The next step is the phone call you make to a hypnotist, this should continue the journey to quitting, even though you may feel nervous about quitting, your determination increases.

When you come in for your session your practitioner should create a friendly atmosphere which increases your confidence and determination. Even the simple act of paying prior to your session or at least right at the start is another important cog in the process.

Of course the session is geared 100% towards quitting for life.

Afterwards it’s important that you continue to re-enforce the new position of being a non smoker. Mentally feel sorry for smokers and with every one you see, congratulate yourself that you are a non smoker.

This process needs to continue for at least a year, in order that should a crisis occur in your life that you don’t default to your old patterns of behaviour.

This article may seem like a marketing process for the hypnotherapist, and in a sense it is. Marketers would call this market to match. But the exact process the therapist uses to bring in a new client and take them through the process has the duel purpose of ensuring the step by step kicks in right from the start.

It’s like being on a Childs slippery slide. It starts off slow then gains momentum then evening out to safely deliver the user to the ground, or in this case into the world of non smokers.

That is those people who don’t inhale combusted toxins into their lungs and brains and livers etc. Or literally burn thousands of dollars every year, or smell like an ashtray.

As you can see the process is more involved and more important than just turning up for an appointment there are several phases, but don’t forget the most important, that is your total commitment.

Quitting Smoking…Do Non smokers Create Quit Ads?

Hi Future Non Smoker

Quit smoking advertisements whether they be, on television or on cigarette packets, tend to focus on shock value and motivating smokers through fear. I’m guessing but I highly suspect that the quit ads are created by non smokers.

A non smoker will think that these grisly images will obviously scare anybody into quitting cigarettes for good. But having worked with over a thousand smokers I am convinced that they have little effect.

I asked every client about the current television ads or images on packets and their answer is always the same. They don’t see it. They just filter it out, or even worse it causes them to want a cigarette.

To quote several clients, when asked what they are thinking when their child sees the scary ads and asks them again to quit. Their answer is uniformly “I want a smoke right now”

The plain green packaging in Australia, seeks to de-brand cigarettes, it certainly makes it harder for shop keepers, but my clients consider it a joke.

International marketing studies have shown that smokers, when shown grisly images such as on packets while in a functional MRI, the smokers craving centres in their brain fire up.

70% of smokers immediately want a cigarette when they see a no smoking sign.

So why do these images get the thumbs up in focus groups?

There are two reasons.

  1. In focus groups there tends to be herd thinking.
  2. People give logical not emotional answers in focus groups. This very much skews the results.

In the study mentioned above the same groups which agreed that the images would stop them smoking were emotionally stimulated in the MRI by the same images.

I would tend to believe a multi million dollar marketing study any day over some government department which thinks it knows best.

True motivation comes in three forms.

  1. Right timing, it has to be the right time for the smoker, not their partner, family, friends or doctor.
  2. Right reasons, there is usually some critical level of dissatisfaction reached where the pain of quitting over powers the pleasure or perceived benefits of smoking.
  3. A decisive moment, such as the diagnosis of a smoking related disorder, or a friend or loved one dying from a smoker related cancer.

If you are at your tipping point, then you can use the current motivation to make the call and book your hypnosis session, this will come as a relief to you and before you know it you will be free from cigarettes.

Quitting Smoking…Can Affirmations Help

May 10, 2014 by

Hi Future Non Smoker

The self help movements of the past few decades have placed great sore in the value of positive affirmations. The question is can positive thinking help you to quit smoking.

Probably the most useful statement I have heard on the subject is attributed to Anthony Robbins. He stated that affirmations without action, is just self delusion. Certainly just saying something is so, doesn’t make it so. But combining it with positive supporting action can increase the likely hood of a successful outcome.

Affirmations can help in the short term by directing your thoughts in a positive direction, but it is a band aid at best.

Affirmations ultimately work because the message filters slowly into your subconscious and may eventually become the default thought or feeling.

I discovered that there is another elements to successfully affirmations for quitting smoking, or any thing else. The method is simple; close your eyes in a quiet space, say the affirmation then notice any response in your thoughts feelings or body.

e.g you state that you are a non smoker, you get a comfortable feeling in your body and a feeling that this is right for you. This means that your conscious and unconscious mind, are in agreement and so this affirmation will work for you.

In another example you state that “I am successfully quitting smoking”, you notice a feeling of doubt or a slumping feeling in your body. This indicates you have some unconscious resistance.

In this case which will be common for areas of your life which you want to change, but have struggled, there is more work to do.

I recommend affirmations as a way of focussing on the change you desire, prior to a quit cigarettes hypnosis session. And after to continue to re-enforce your change, but now it will be without any unconscious resistance.

Quit Smoking… How To Eliminate The Fear Of Quitting

September 6, 2012 by

Hi future Non Smokers

Some people quit smoking using will power, but most pay for some kind of practitioner service. A big fear is that the process won’t work and that they will waste their money and will continue smoking.

So the question is how can practitioners set their clients minds at ease? When you choose a quit smoking practitioner, they should be able to supply you with genuine testimonials from satisfied clients who have successfully quit.

As humans we are subject to some basic psychological laws, in this case the law of social proof. We tend to feel more comfortable in our dealings if we know that others have been before us. Seeing and reading these successful accounts will reduce the quitting fear.

Another way to instil confidence is if the practitioner offers a guarantee of their services. This is not widely in the health fields and some practitioners will say it’s crazy and just not possible.

I believe it makes perfect sense. The guarantee could be to repeat the process if it is not successful the first time. It could be money back, although this can reduce the commitment of the client.

The combination of the guarantee and social proof should be enough to allow a person to enter the quit smoking process with much reduced fear.

To further ensure comfort a clear understanding of the process is important. You should ask questions and be satisfied with the answers. You should be given some clear information about the role of nicotine in addiction.

Plus you should understand the real role of smoking in managing stress. If you are choosing hypnosis you should be given a clear explanation as to what hypnosis is and what it isn’t.

The last thing you need to do is educate yourself as to the true nature of the dangers of smokers. Knowing clearly the risks, knowing the deceptive nature of nicotine, this information will empower you to approach quitting with conviction and commitment.

This now puts you in a position to quit with a high chance of success. Quitting is so important that you need to do all you can do to save your own life, not anyone else’s life just yours.

Hypnosis is your best chance and choosing the right therapist is critical to your success. Do not take this lightly; do not enter into quitting in a half hearted manner. Do take this very very seriously.

Quitting Smoking…Insanity And Restaurant Dining

September 2, 2012 by
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi future Non Smokers

As a non smoker one of the great mysteries is how someone can eat a fine meal and ruin it with a cigarette. Instead of savouring the taste of delicious food the only taste lingering on the tongue is the burnt cigarette after taste.

Recently my wife and I had dinner with three friends. After each course they all went outside for a cigarette. I watched them join other smokers and bond in the ritual of inhaling smoke and poisonous chemicals while freezing in the cold night air.

When they returned to the table they brought with them the stink of smoke. That was off putting enough but the thought of willingly inhaling the pollution seemed like madness.

Insanity has been defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. Everyone who smokes in a western country has seen and heard enough to know clearly what the consequences of smoking will be for them.

Yet it still surprises me so many people continue to smoke while either denying any problem exists or with no concern about the future. Some even think that the whole health scare is just a government plot of some kind.

If you are thinking like this then its time to great real or get some psychological help. I’m not here to be your friend, I’m here to encourage you to face the facts and save your own life.

Food tastes worse with smoking, alcohol, coffee and tea taste worse with smoking, you know that really, because no restaurant on the planet smokes their food with cigarette smoke. Because no one would be crazy enough to pay for it.

Look at your life , look at the areas in which you are doing well, making good decisions. What about your relationships, are they good or at least functional. Do you interact like a rational human being, do you behave well in public.

If so why are you acting insanely by continuing to smoke. You are not insane, you know the problems with smoking, so ignoring them is crazy, but again you are nor insane so you know that you need to quit smoking.

You can do it, using hypnosis you can come to terms with the reality of smoking, you can release your habitual connections and you can finally be free from the control of nicotine. So set your fear aside and take action.

Quitting Smoking When You Know It’s Just A Habit

August 27, 2012 by
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

Knowing how to quit smoking when you realise that it’s just a habit, but you keep on doing it anyway, is easier than you might think. A surprising number of smokers have already reached the conclusion that their smoking is just a habit and not an addiction. They know this because the nicotine patches and quit smoking medications, have failed to work for them.

In fact most report having used nicotine patches and still continue smoking, at the same time, simply because they were having a coffee or a meal, it’s because they have such a strong association with smoking and food and drinks.

If nicotine was the only problem then it would be logical that all smokers would give up smoking, using nicotine replacement therapy alone. Yet this is certainly not the case, for the vast majority of smokers.

So if the problem is just a habit then why don’t smokers just change their minds and quit? Think for a moment about the things you do in your life, those things that you do out of habit, perhaps the way you eat, the way you speak and so on.

Think about some other habits you might have. Biting nails, putting on one sock before the other, sleeping on the same side of the bed, getting up at a certain time etc. How hard do you find it to change even the most simple of habits.

Now think about how many cigarettes you have had in your life. Lets say you smoke twenty a day, and you have smoked for twenty years, that’s one hundred and fortysix thousand cigarettes in total.

If you have a smoke when you wake up that’s seven thousand three hundred times you have woken up and had a cigarette.

If you smoke when you have a coffee break in the morning and afternoon, that’s fourteen thousand six hundred cups of coffee and cigarettes.

I’m sure you are getting the picture. These habits are very ingrained, they have been re-enforced over and over into your brain thousands of times. It’s no wonder that you have difficulty quitting.

All of these times when you have tried to stop smoking, going cold turkey or with patches, your subconscious fights you every inch of the way. Even though your conscious mind has clearly made the decision to quit.

But what are a few decisions against thousands of repeated habits. So the question remains how can you break these entrenched habits quickly and easily.

The best solution, and possibly the only solution which can easily address long-held subconscious habits is hypnosis.

Hypnosis is designed specifically to bi-pass the critical factor, which is like the gatekeeper to your subconscious, it works because willpower is useless at getting past this wall.

Hypnosis slides past in a stealthy way and gently prods the old beliefs, which then allows the practitioner to make new positive suggestions which will be specifically designed to make you feel like you have been a non smoker your entire life.

How To Quit Smoking – When You Work In Construction

August 23, 2012 by
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

If you are reading this it’s because you work in construction of some form or you know someone who does. It may seem a little strange to single out manual workers but there is a single clear difference.

It’s about access to smoking. If you work in an office you have limited times to smoke but on a building or construction site in most cases you are free to smoke whenever you choose. This means that you can smoke for no particular reason.

By that I mean you can light up without needing the nicotine, or without any emotional connection.

So if you want to know the secret to how to smoke when you work construction, the answer is that there is no secret but there are three important considerations.

1. You have free access to smoke.

2. There may be a lot of other smokers around you.

3. You may socialize with these same people, having beers after work, and smoking will be a big part of this.

You could quit your job and your workmates but that’s a huge price to pay. Of course if you continue to smoke you may become ill or die. That is surely a bigger price to pay.

Fortunately there is another option. You can quit smoking and still continue to work and socialise with other smokers.

The way to achieve this is by releasing all the emotional ties in your subconscious. The fact that you may smoke 20, 30 40 or more cigarettes has nothing to do with it.

I’m sure you already know that most of the smokes you have daily have no meaning and there is no physical or emotional demand for them. So many of those workday cigarettes will be smoked without any thought given to

In order to break this habit and free yourself from the risks of smoking you will need to use advanced hypnosis to manage your withdrawal.

The key is to absolutely want to quit, no if’s buts or maybe’s. Anything less and you will fail. The simple reason is that you cannot be made to do anything you don’t want to do in hypnosis.

You need a firm commitment, and the only way to achieve this is to understand that smoking holds no benefits for you, none at all.

Don’t worry if you can’t arrive at this point completely. When you book your hypnosis it is enough to feel ready. The shift to a realisation that there is nothing left for you in smoking will be made during the pre-hypnosis session. Providing your therapist knows what they are doing.

How To Quit Smoking – Stop Making It So Hard For Yourself

August 19, 2012 by
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

It may sound crazy that anyone would intentionally make quitting smoking any harder than necessary. But I can guarantee that if you want to know a secret about how to quit smoking, then just stop making it so hard for yourself.

Henry Ford once said, that if you think you can or you think you can’t, then either way you are right. Here in lies the problem. Many smokers think they can’t, or think it will be very hard.

They say things like:

1. Cigarettes are my friend: Wow talk about a lousy friend.

2. I’ll be lost without them: Nothing quite so comforting as lighting a toxic cigarette.

3. I need my cigarettes to think: Nothing like 4000 toxic chemicals flooding your brain to help cognition.

4. Cigarettes help me when I’m stressed. Nicotine causes an adrenal response, flooding your system with adrenalin and cortisol, nothing good about that.

5. Smoking helps me relax. Again the nicotine does no such thing. It’s taking time out that is relaxing.

6. I like smoking when I eat. Just wait until your food tastes like food and not an ashtray.

7. I always smoke with alcohol. Have a look around, notice the non smokers are doing just fine, without smoking.

8. I put on weight if I quit. Smokers are no less thin or fat than any other group in society. Smoking actually makes it hard for your liver to break down fats properly.

In fact one of the best pieces of advice I can give to a smoker is to just observe non smokers going about their day. See them when they are relaxed, stressed, busy, thinking, bored, eating or drinking.

The non smokers are managing just fine without any assistance from cigarettes. Focusing on all the reasons you think you need to smoke is just making it very hard for you. You can’t quit when you think your life is so dependent on smoking.

The first thing to do is to look at the list and just think about it. Start to realise that smoking doesn’t make anything better. It doesn’t help you to relax or thing, or drive better or hold a better conversation on the phone.

All it does is cost you a lot of money, make you smell like an ashtray, and strip away 14 years of life on average. And did I mention the slow painful lingering death.

How To Quit Smoking When You Suffer From Depression

August 15, 2012 by
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

It can be hard enough to quit smoking at the best of times, but if you want to know how to quit smoking when you also suffer from depression you are going to need to get support on several fronts.

Depression has both organic and emotional components. The emotional can be assisted by professional therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy. The organic aspect is usually well managed with specific selective Serotonin reuptake inhibitor medications such as Zoloft, Prozac and Paxil.

A person with depression will need the support of their medical specialist to assist and monitor their medications and their emotional state when they quit cigarettes.

Zyban, also sold as Wellbutrin or Voxra known as Tricyclics, are also antidepressants which are used as quit smoking drugs. Unfortunately many of my clients have found these tricyclics make them feel unwell and usually can’t persist with them.

Managing stress will be critical for the depressed smoker, as they are likely to have even more emotional connections to cigarettes than most people.

Using hypnosis is a very gentle way to remove those connections and help to establish new positive habits without the need for nicotine.

But at home support may be required in the interim period until a person truly believes that they no longer need to smoke. Their old routines will be strongly ingrained, and they may need to busy themselves at times. Having support will defiantly help them through this time.

Once a person is free from smoking for a few days to a few weeks they will start to feel an increased sense of wellbeing. By being able to breathe easier will a person will be able to exercise more. Exercise alone will reduce the severity of depression.

Plus as levels of wellbeing increase most people will do more and more to help themselves. Such as improving their diets. Depressed people tend to eat poorly. Junk food diets are known to increase difficult mental behaviour.

Timing is important. It is best to choose a time when life is reasonably good, so that the person has more emotional resilience to cope with any pressure from quitting.

By combining therapies and by seeking multiple points of support a person with depression will be able to quit smoking in most instances. Severe depression will be more of a challenge but with the right management it is still a good chance of success, getting everything lined up is critical.

How To Quit Smoking – With Plain Cigarette Packaging

August 11, 2012 by
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

At the time of writing, the Australian government is about to introduce a law requiring cigarette companies to market their products in plain green packaging. I imagine they are thinking that, when a person asks how they can quit smoking, they think about the packaging.

Tobacco giant Phillip Morris is threatening to sue the Australian government.

Past efforts such as grisly images on packaging, no smoking signs and scary television ads have had little impact on smoking numbers. Smokers freely admit that quite often seeing an advertisement with a smoker dying in a hospital bed actually makes them want to smoke.

One client while watching television with his son, reported that as his young lad was becoming upset and pleading with him to quit, all he could think about was going outside to light up a smoke.

Quit smoking signs in airports are proven to make people want to smoke. Seeing them just makes the craving centres of the brain light up.

Quit smoking campaigns have little effect. The drop in smokers has come from increased taxes and more importantly increased social pressure.

Quit smoking campaigns are designed to stop new people from taking up the habit. But smoking in the demographic of young adults is on the rise. It is not surprising really because in a world of increasing rules and regulations smoking is a way for a young person to rebel.

Clients laugh at the notion of not being able to differentiate one brand from another, because of a government regulation.

Governments should be applauded for their efforts to stem the tide of smoking. The problem they face is trying to change the attitudes of individuals with policies which are sweeping and by necessity are aimed at the large faceless group called smokers.

Smokers quit as individuals. They quit when they have come to an individual personal decision that they need to stop now. They don’t quit because some government committee announce a decree from on high that some new punitive measure aimed at the multi nationals will change the mind of a smoker having a drink and a smoke after work.

Quitting comes only at the right time, and only when a person has finally made a clear committed decision. Advanced hypnosis is the way to leave smoking behind forever, it is the best way to ensure your success, then the new plain packaged smokes will be of zero interest to you.

How To Quit Smoking, Using Hypnosis and NLP

August 7, 2012 by
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

If you have tried everything and you just want to know how to quit smoking then there is a solution. Hypnosis has been used clinically for over three hundred years. In the American war of independence, Hypnosis was commonly used to manage the pain of surgery owing to the shortage of anesthetics.

NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming is a more modern development using Ericksonian Hypnosis.

The combination is perfect for the majority of smokers to quit. The reason being is that most people are not nearly as heavily addicted to nicotine as they think. Most people experience a very powerful mental and emotional habit.

This habit responds very well to hypnosis and NLP. Here’s why:

Hypnosis is misunderstood, because most people’s experience is either with stage shows or on television. The truth is that hypnosis is simple and anybody can be hypnotised as long as they are willing to participate.

This willingness requires two things.

1. A clear solid commitment to quit, for yourself and no one else.

2. An understanding that in hypnosis no one can be made to do anything they don’t want to do. This realisation alone can take all the stress out of hypnosis.

Hypnosis is used to safely access the subconscious mind. This is where all the old wrong connections to smoking reside. When properly performed hypnosis will set you free from those wrong beliefs and gently introduce new positive feelings and connections with being a non smoker.

NLP is the specific language and language patterns that are used in hypnosis. It’s not just a matter of a casual chat with your subconscious. The way it is done has to be very specific. Every word, every phrase is critical. The pacing and even the pauses can make or break a successful hypnosis experience.

It could be said that hypnosis is the science and NLP is the art. Together they make for a powerful team which will give you a great chance of quitting smoking or for making any change that you wish for in your life.

This combination is a proven way to eliminate the patterns of thinking that have kept your smoking habit alive for so long. Your subconscious is like a hard drive in a computer, it just contains information, beliefs and decisions.

Hypnosis and NLP together can release those beliefs and gently suggest new beliefs and feelings which will make it easy for you to quit smoking and remain a non smoker for life.

How To Quit Smoking – Waiting For The Right Time

August 3, 2012 by
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

So often, people talk about waiting for the right time in their lives for major change. Having a family, getting married, changing jobs etc. But waiting for the right time to quit smoking is like waiting to win the lottery on a Saturday night.

It could happen but it’s highly likely that it won’t. The fact is there is no good time to stop cigarettes, and there is no bad time either, all the perceived obstacles and reasons are just excuses to avoid the issue, and face up to the challenge.

If you talk to anyone about their lives, there always seems to be some drama happening or about to happen. So to quit smoking it’s more a matter of just making a decision and biting the bullet.

So if you are delaying, perhaps you could sit back and have a good think about what your reason or excuse is for not quitting until some specific time. I’ve heard people say that they can’t quit until the busy work period is over, or an event has passed.

I even heard one client say they couldn’t quit until the end of the financial year. They weren’t even in business for themselves, but they had set a date off into the future and suddenly the day had arrived. To their credit they booked their appointment but their partner chickened out and set another random date into the future.

For the partner it simply indicated that they weren’t yet ready to quit. So in fact they were being true to themselves, because the worst possibly reason to quit is to please someone else. Simply stated, it just won’t work.

One client had carried my brochure in her purse for eight months. She kept pushing the quitting date forward, until she set for herself a non negotiable day to quit.

A common experience for clients, who have agonised over and delayed their decision to quit often for years, is a feeling of disappointment after they quit. Not that they were unhappy with the process, it’s just that it was so much easier than they imagined.

They generally say that they can’t believe how easy it was and that they wished they had done it years ago. This is so often the case with the things we delay or avoid in our lives. The old adage that fear, equals, false events appearing real is very true, especially with regard to quitting smoking.

How To Quit Smoking If You Have A Brain Injury

July 30, 2012 by
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non smokers

Successfully quitting smoking if you have a brain injury is a matter of acquiring help from a support team. Input may be required from several sources. In hypnosis we have a rule, you can’t make someone do something they don’t want to do.

So quitting must be a clear choice of the individual, and then they need to follow through with any strategies they are given by their therapist.

The problem with a client who has a brain injury is that they may not be quite capable of making a clear decision to quit. Those who care for them want to help them to make them healthier. Smoking may be not only a direct risk to their health but also a fire risk from smoking indoors and in bed.

Frontal lobe injuries, which can result from accidents or assaults, can cause a person to have reduced inhibition. With regard to smoking they can often be very heavy smokers.

Even fairly highly functioning people can have inhibition issues such as not recognising common courtesies and etiquette. They may not necessarily heavily addicted to nicotine but certainly habituated to frequent smoking, often smoking without thinking about it.

Another difficulty is that the popular quit smoking drugs such as Zyban and Champix may not be suitable for a person with a brain injury. Many non brain injured quitters have enough problems with these mind altering drugs. It would be potentially dangerous to expose these people to such chemicals.

This leaves nicotine replacement therapy. The real statistics for patches and gum show these to not be very successful at all. A problem would be that the client continues to smoke while wearing patches, resulting in them becoming ill.

Traditional hypnosis focusing on quitting smoking may not be appropriate. But gentle conversational hypnosis targeting stress management, may be critical to achieving a successful outcome.

As a rule quitting smoking using hypnosis is done in a single session. But when a brain injury is involved it may be more appropriate to do a series of short sessions with each one addressing a single aspect of smoking.

This may not be easy, and will most likely require some serious commitment of the part of everyone involved. Some may argue that the person should be allowed to enjoy their simple pleasure. But it is worth the effort and will definitely improve the quality of life of the person. Removing a toxic chemical from their brain can only be beneficial in the long run.

How To Quit Smoking – Even If It’s An Important Part Of Your Life

So how can you quit smoking when it’s such an important part of your life. In fact it’s more than a habit. It’s a friend who comforts you when you are lonely or upset. It’s a comfort to you in the middle of a cold dark night.

When you are bored it’s there to give you something to do to make your life better. Cigarettes certainly make food taste better, and you wouldn’t consider a fine wine or a boutique beer without a smoke to richly enhance the flavor.

An when you have that hacking cough first thing in the morning, your cigarettes are there to soothe your lungs and set you up for the day. And finally when you are hospitalized your smokes will be there to help bond with your fellow patients as you stand in the outside smoking areas with your drip stands and your matching hospital gowns.

So I’m wondering just how important those smokes are. The reality is that most smokers lead a double life. One part connects to smoking and holds on to all those special moments you have had with your favorite brand.

The other part wants to be free from the chains of smoking, but cigarettes are like a relationship that has run its course, you really should separate but you still get drunk and sleep together, so it’s too hard to part, plus no one can decide who gets the dog.

Well any therapist will tell you that if you don’t move on you will go nuts. So to with smoking, you need to recognize that your addicted and most of your cigarettes have nothing to do with nicotine.

So get a grip on reality and get your head into some advanced hypnosis, so that you can shake out all those old beliefs and connections. It’s time for a new healthy relationship, one that doesn’t make you smell or make your lungs bleed. One that doesn’t involve paying for the holidays for cigarette company executives.

In fact there are a thousand things that you could do that would be better for you than smoking, things cheaper, safer and less smelly. But most importantly things that won’t cause you a long slow grisly painful inconvenient death.

How To Quit Smoking – Even When You Are Sceptical About Hypnosis

Hi future Non Smokers

Most smokers who find their way to my clinic have tried nicotine patches and gum, champix or Chantix and cold turkey. They have decided to try hypnosis but are skeptical because they don’t understand hypnosis but they don’t know how to quit smoking using hypnosis.

Being skeptical is healthy as long as it doesn’t stop you from taking action. Quitting is important that you cannot afford to let anything stand in your way. Occasionally I have someone call my clinic but decide not to proceed when they hear it’s hypnosis, even if I explain how it works to them.

Before they hang up I ask; what are afraid of. There is usually a pause and then the truth comes out. They truth is usually that they are afraid not of hypnosis but they are really afraid of quitting.

So the first thing to do is be completely honest with yourself. Sure quitting is a little scary especially if you have smoked for a long time and you use cigarettes to manage your emotional state.

Things you need to know to quit smoking using hypnosis, even if you are skeptical.

1. Understand your skepticism is perfectly natural.

2. Understand your fear is natural. This is a major transition in your life. The fear will soon pass as you easily relax, All you have to do is want the change to occur.

3. Know that hypnosis is a natural state we all enter into many times a day. It’s a kind of day dreaming.

4. Hypnosis is perfectly safe, it’s a very relaxed focused learning state. It’s a perfectly natural to take on new important information.

5. You cannot do anything that you don’t want to do in hypnosis. Hypnosis is an agreement between the client and the therapist.

6. You will not be made to cluck like a chicken. We will not play silly games with you, and I couldn’t anyway as in hypnosis you can’t be made to do something that you don’t want to do.

7. You won’t be asleep. Being asleep will be pointless in hypnosis.

8. You will not have any memory loss. You will remember as much from your hypnosis session as you would from any equivalent period of time.

9. You will not have to try and make the hypnosis work it will just happen naturally without you having to force it. You will just feel differently about smoking naturally and simply.
