Quitting Smoking…How To Give yourself The Perfect Detox

May 21, 2015 by

Hi Future Non Smoker

Occasionally I see clients who are very healthy in all respects other than smoking. It’s the last thing they need to change. Many of them liked to do an occasional detox, but the futility of the process often escapes them.

Even if you have not the slightest interest in healthy practices you can give yourself the best detox in the world by quitting smoking. A traditional detox done properly takes on average six weeks. Within six of quitting your body will undergo an important detox process.

The term detox is often thrown around but many haven’t a clue as to what it actually does. I despair seeing the latest trend in three day or seven day detoxes most of which are just some crazy story in a magazine or a promotion by a health food shop.

Don’t worry you don’t have to get technical quitting will automatically start the process, but their a few things you can do to facilitate the process. If you have been smoking for years it’s not just your lungs that are congested.

Every cell in your body has been affected by cigarettes. Your liver and kidneys, the major organs of waste processing, in particular have borne the brunt of years of toxic exposure.

To support a faster return to better health you can help the process along. Drink extra water, a lot more if you don’t currently drink much. Six glasses for a couple of weeks will help. This helps your kidneys and ensures your cells are properly hydrated.

That 1000mg of vitamin C per day and two cups of green tea will help the first phase of liver detoxification.

Two boiled eggs a day provide enough liver active compounds like choline and inositol to drive detoxification.

You can add turmeric to your cooking which also supports liver and digestion.

When you quit it’s always a good idea to go easy on alcohol for a few days especially if you smoke more heavily when you drink. Easing on alcohol is like giving your liver a holiday.

In a usual detox I recommend that clients ease up on the coffee and fatty foods, this is still the best advice but in the case of quitting smoking I don’t like to take away any more pleasures from my client.

Some just naturally ease up on coffee, but it’s not critical. The benefits to you are vast, every cell, every organ and every inch of skin will start to give up its toxic load leaving you much healthier in just a few weeks.

Of course hypnosis makes the quitting process as easy as possible, freeing you from this toxic habit.

Hi Future Non Smoker

Quit Smoking…Becoming Aware (Stop Cigarettes)

If you wake up each morning with a cough that vibrates through your house you are aware of the effects of smoking.

If you puff hard walking up some stairs you are aware how smoking is reducing your fitness.

If having a smoke takes precedence over time with your children then you’re aware of the emotional cost of smoking.

If you know someone who has had lung cancer or emphysema then you’re aware of the serious consequences.

If you smoke a pack a day, then you’re aware that it’s costing you $5000 a year.

If you’re standing outside a restaurant or café or social function you’re aware of what smoking is costing you socially.

If you’re smoking in a dirty alley at lunch time in the city because of the new rules you’re aware that life isn’t quite working out the way you planes.

If you’re the guy wandering through the herb garden at South Bank in Brisbane and can’t smell all the fragrances you’re aware of the many things you’re missing out on.

If you would like a new relationship but fear that smelling like an ashtray may be an impediment, then you are probably right.

If you think that no one knows you smoke wake up and smell the roses, a non-smoker can always tell.

If you think that you will be spared from serious smoking related illness then it may be time to be aware that you don’t have super powers.

But what about all the things that are happening inside you every time you smoke. Have you ever thought about why you cough or get short of breath. Or what happens to that smoke after you suck it into your lungs, as it enters your heart before it gets pumped through your arteries and back to the heart, leaving traces all along the way.

Few people think about these things. I have clients breathe out smoke into a tissue, which leaves a dirty yellow stain and causes them to think about their insides. It’s not pleasant.

If you are ready to quit then perhaps you could become aware of hypnosis which is the most successful quitting method by a long shot.

After quitting you will quickly become aware of being able to breathe easier.

Actually tasting food for a change. Smelling the herb garden, having lunch in the sunshine not an alley, waking up breathing fresh air, knowing your clothes and hair smell clean and not wondering if a customer or client or dinner date can smell the stale cigarettes on you.

You can smell the coffee again with hypnosis he fastest way to quit smoking.

You want to quit smoking but somewhere deep in your mind is a belief that it’s hard to quit and even that there is still pleasure in smoking or maybe that you couldn’t live without it.

So as you read this let your mind wander back to that first cigarette. I bet you coughed or at least thought it tasted terrible. But as a smoker you must have persisted until he ashtray taste seemed at least acceptable and you even enjoyed it.

But back to the first smoke, what was the influence, who was it, what was it about that person that you admired. What quality did they have that you thought you could get if you smoked as well? So did you become what you wanted to become when you smoked?

You may have imagined for a while that you were tough or cool or sophisticated, but I bet that didn’t last long. What you were left with was a long term smoking habit.

Now you are almost shunned by society, with more and more rules being applied ever year, and the cost going up all the time.

So in the start it you being influenced to smoke, now the government, and family and doctors are trying to influence you to quit. But you now have noticed that it was so easy to be influenced to start but very hard to stop.

Another side is who are you influencing? Is there a young child in your life who looks up to you? Perhaps they might start to smoke, or choose some other bad habit that seems OK because they saw you trying to manage life through a cigarette.

You may not have thought of it like this, but now there is no escaping it. From the moment you read this you can’t help but wonder what effect your actions will have.

Well the good news is that you don’t have to be shunned by society anymore.

You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars a year any more.

You don’t have to continue to risk your health.

And you never have to be a bad influence to anyone ever again.

And you can achieve all of this through the positive influence of iChange quit smoking hypnosis. In far less time than it took to become a smoker you can be free from cigarettes. The decision lies squarely with you, to quit or to continue, a simple decision with profound consequences.

Hi future Non Smoker

There is a new field in marketing called persuasion psychology, the skill to get you to buy what they want you to buy. This same psychology is what got you to start smoking and can be used to help you quit cigarettes for life.

If you think back to when you started smoking there were specific influences. Family and friends typically. You wanted to fit in to be a part of a group and be accepted.

Perhaps you bought the story that smoking made you look older, or cool or more sophisticated. This was the aim of the big smoking companies, each had their own image.

The rugged cowboy on a horse, the classy woman or man beautifully dressed often in luxurious surroundings. Our crashing through the jungle in a four wheel drive only stopping to light up a smoke.

Cigarette companies aligned with sports advertising, selling you a subtle message that smoking and sports were compatible.

Hollywood showed us how cool it is to smoke, how it seemed that smelling like an ashtray was somehow sexy and desirable.

Others bought the message that smoking was a rebellious thing to do. Their parents warned them about the dangers and yet they rebel by smoking, putting out of their minds the health problems and many believe that either they will quit easily when they are ready or that they won’t get cancer.

Millions of people were persuaded to smoke by one form of psychology or another, either intentionally in the case of cigarette companies or by osmosis through friends and family.

The good news is that persuasion methods can be used for both good and evil. You can quickly be subtly persuaded to stop cigarettes. The most successful of these methods is hypnosis.

The best part is that this process happens quickly because in the hypnotic state learning is achieved at an accelerated rate. This happens because we bi-pass the all the resistance and doubt of the conscious mind.

We don’t have to struggle against the conscious minds memories of all the stories of people who found quitting smoking difficult. In hypnosis these stories are of no interest, the unconscious mind just relaxes, and takes on the new information and let’s go of the old.

It’s a bit like working with a computer, garbage in garbage out but good data in then good data out, it’s almost as simple as that, all that is required in addition is that you want the result.

Hi Future Non Smoker

Quitting smoking…It’s Going To Be So Good But…

It’s going to be so good to finally quit but! I’ve heard these words so many times. The excitement which tapers to fear and a feeling of failure even before the attempt is made is also very common.

Effective motivation requires a personal and compelling vision either away from something unpleasant, or toward a specific desirable goal. Charles Andreas & Charles Faulkner.

This quote sums up your journey to breathing fresh air. You can get caught up in the fear and failure of past attempts or you can start the process of pushing away from your past.

This is done by in many ways. You could start by breathing out through a tissue next time you smoke. Notice the disgusting dirty yellow stain and take a moment to contemplate the implications.

It will be now a lot easier to take the next step or bad mouthing each and every smoke you have. Talk to it look at it with disgust and tell it, that it is nearly over that you don’t need it anymore and its hold over you is now gone.

You may feel a bit silly doing this but it will start the process of sending negative smoking feelings into your unconscious mind.

Now between smokes you can let your mind wander and let your imagination drift to your future as a non-smoker. Imagine you with more energy, being able to breathe easier and feeling much healthier.

Picture your wallet or purse with more cash and think about being in a restaurant and looking on with pity as the smokers stand out in the rain or cold as you enjoy your delicious food.

Do this often, see yourself in all sorts of situations as a non-smoker, going about your day breathing in your full share of fresh clean air. You could even let this day dreaming extend to replacing the dirty smog currently trying to struggle through your arteries and heart, then see this clean breeze of oxygen easily float through your delighted cardiovascular system.

The third part of the programme is to book your hypnosis session, turn up, follow the instructions then just close your eyes and think of freedom.

All of your preparation will perfectly prepare you for the hypnosis which will be the major key in the puzzle which will finally set you free and allow you to start recovering your health with more cash in your pocket.

Quitting Smoking…Nicotine A Murder Weapon?

Hi future Non Smoker

Quitting Smoking…Nicotine A Murder Weapon?

In a recent episode of Hawaii Five-O difficult to trace poison used as a murder weapon was liquid Nicotine. Well known as a powerful insecticide, in this case it was introduced into the victim’s water bottle.

That is television but it is known that the amount of nicotine in an average cigar if injected will result in immediate death. Again bad news but unlikely to occur outside of a murder mystery.

But it’s not hard to draw the obvious conclusion that smoking is just a slow way to be poisoned, it’s starting to sound like another crime plot!

Except this plot has some strange twists. A poison in disguise as a social pleasurable drug was made acceptable, fashionable, cool, a symbol of toughness or sophistication.

The world embraced it, it was supported by doctors, made even more popular by Hollywood, it was in many ways the perfect product. It sold itself, it was just a question of which brand to choose.

The slow poisoning of generations had begun. As early as 1908 it was determined that smoking was harmful to health, yet the all-powerful cigarette juggernaut kept pushing the good for you line.

Well paid PHD’s and medical doctors whose pockets were lined with cash would front the media and lie through their teeth.

In the early seventies researchers declared that smoking caused cancer. The American government suppressed this data until eight years later they could no longer ignore the facts.

So now the truth began to immerge yet the slow poisoning continued, and it continues until today. The difference is everyone in the western world is aware of the continued poisoning on yet another generation.

Of course as a smoker you don’t think of it in those terms, you’re aware of all the health problems but the truth is re-framed in a more acceptable way. No government has the courage to come and and point a finger at big tobacco and state that they are poisoning their population.

Why? Because they would have to admit to being complicit in this slow poisoning. But of course they their interest is divided into promoting quit smoking and collecting huge taxes.

The good news about this particular poison is that when you quit you will start to recover quickly and within a year or so you will mostly be free from the effects of the nicotine poison.

So when you are ready to quit and you need the perfect antidote, hypnosis is the best answer, and just like the best crime stores the victim will recover just in time!

Quitting Smoking…Your First Three Weeks As A Non Smoker

April 15, 2015 by

Hi Future Non Smoker

Quitting Smoking…Your First Three Weeks As A Non Smoker

The first three weeks of making an important change in your life is the most critical time. Your experience will determine in those critical days will determine your outcome.

Most people when they quit smoking struggle and suffer, during those first three weeks and this often results in failure. The flow on effect is a strengthened belief that quitting is difficult, and painful, so that when you make another attempt you are unconsciously set up to fail. And unfortunately fail is what most people will do.

This is why so many government quit ads encourage people to keep on trying, all the while causing further frustration.

This three week period is the time when your unconscious mind fights back. It thinks it is protecting you from this scary change which is occurring. You have a long history of smoking thoughts and feelings locked away.

Memories of thousands of cigarettes connected to fun times, family events, happy times and sad times all shared with a stick of tobacco lodged firmly between your lips. All locked away in your unconscious mind, keeping alive the belief that smoking feels good, even if it doesn’t.

At least that’s how it was before society forced you outside in the cold and the rain, or down lane ways in cities, shunned by polite society, and endlessly nagged by the health police.

The reason hypnosis is so successful is that, because it separates you from the triggers and habit side, it makes the initial transition period so much easier. But also because there is a built in follow up system which makes the whole process work so much smoother.

Hypnosis is a multi-step process. During your consultation suggestions and recommendations will be made for you to act on in the next few weeks.

An example is creating new positive habits which will enhance your wellbeing, keep you focussed on being a healthy person and away from cigarettes.

Or spending some time daily consciously relaxing without a phone, television or a computer and allowing yourself some time to do nothing more than let the surface of your mind just stop for a while.

Exercise and a good diet of course will all support your quitting. But don’t forget to treat yourself.  After all you have a lot more cash in your pocket. You have just given yourself a huge pay rise, so enjoy and celebrate your new life as a non smoker.

Quitting Smoking…A Long History Of Denial

April 6, 2015 by

Hi Future Non Smoker

Quitting Smoking…A Long History Of Denial

It was way back in 1900 that researchers determined that cigarettes caused cancer in guinea pigs. That same year four American states banned the sale of cigarettes. That same year the US Supreme Court upheld the decision of the states to ban the sale of smokes and 43 or the then 45 states had strong anti-smoking action.

That same year 4.4 billion cigarettes were sold in the US by the fifties 306 billion smokes were consumed.

Just imagine if this action had held up there wouldn’t be a smoker anywhere in the western world. You would never have started, you would never have wasted all that money and you would never have put your life at risk.

So what happened? How did all of this action result in an industry growing for many decades to come, and for being responsible for the deaths of millions of people?

The history is full of ducking and weaving by the cigarette companies, fighting battles in court with huge resources being topped up every day from sales, lobbying to and corrupting at the highest level of government.

Plus shifting the technical details, such as the miracle filter supported by celebrities, plus low tar and low nicotine products. All the while the image of smoking being glamorous being promoted in Hollywood movies.

Sophisticated, rugged, and cool these where the images of the smoker. Each product positioned itself to appeal to different market segments. Action sports all were heavily sponsored with players lighting up after the event for the benefit of the cameras.

Not to mention the billions of dollars collected by governments, rubbing their hands together with glee, while sternly sending out their anti-smoking messages.

All of this image making lodged firmly into the unconscious of generations of smokers. Even to this day most smokers can easily recall the marketing messages and the jingles.

These days there is such a powerful anti-smoking message that it throws up a wall of resistance for many smokers. They are sick of being hassled, discriminated against and nagged endlessly. They are legal after all, and the government takes a hefty percentage of the retail cost in taxes.

It’s no wonder that smokers fall into a group which are hard to understand. From my position it doesn’t matter why a person smokes, because what I do is help them to quit with hypnosis when they have reached the point where smoking is no longer acceptable to them.

Quitting Smoking…Smoking Drowning and Someones Backside!

April 3, 2015 by

Hi Future Non Smoker

Quitting Smoking…Smoking Drowning and Someones Backside!

Back in the good ole 1770’s it was believed by the Humane Society that a drowned person could be resuscitated by inserting a lit pipe into the victims rectum, then blowing on the embers and giving what amounted to a nicotine enema. The thought being that nicotine is a stimulant and would spark a person back to life.

Apparently there were cases in which this is exactly what happened. So pipe resuscitation kits were available at points along the Thames river. By the 1820’s it was established that this practice didn’t work and it was suspected that inserting a pipe into a drowned person was in itself enough to bring some back to life!

Cigarettes were even promoted as being good for your lungs. In the 1930’s a famous brand promoted that 20,169 Physicians say their brand is less irritating and your throat is protected against cough.

A dentist was featured recommending another brand, in 1964 some 62 years after the first research surfaced on the risk of cancer and smoking a major brand was a sponsor of the US Presidential elections.

From the early twentieth century through to the 1950’s doctors were prescribing cigarettes to patients of a nervous disposition. This included children; I have seen a number of older clients who were given cigarettes as a way to modify their behaviour by the family doctor.

Fortunately by the 1960’s this practice stopped and by the 1970’s it was proven that nicotine causes anxiety and not relaxation.

But here we are in 2015. There is no doubt at all about the harm cigarettes cause, yet about 20% of the population still smokes. Some young some old, some pregnant, some sick, some who are fitness fanatics and some who live an otherwise toxin free existence.

It’s not a lack of knowledge, everyone knows smoking is deadly.

It’s not a lack of social pressure, most people are badgered by family and friends.

It’s not about economics, cigarettes in Australia cost the average smoker about $120 per week, yet they still find the money.

It’s not about intelligence, most smoking clients I’ve seen are bright people.

It’s no longer about convenience, most smokers have to walk a considerable distance from their place of work to smoke.

So what then? It’s about unconscious resistance, keeping all the triggers alive no matter how much you want to quit. This is the domain of hypnosis, the best and only way to get rid of those long held triggers for ever.

Quitting Smoking…You Are Not Your Smoking Habit

March 31, 2015 by

Hi Future non Smoker

Quitting Smoking…You Are Not Your Smoking Habit

A client once said to me that he couldn’t remember an important time in his life when he didn’t have a cigarette with him. It’s common for people to say that their smoke is their friend, many believe that they are too addicted to quit or that they can’t manage their stressful lives  but no matter how addicted you think you are, you are much more than your smoking habit, and you deserve much more out of life.

Imagine for a moment back when you were a child. You had hopes and dreams for your future, but then you see a picture of someone whose life seems to be dictated by a routine of topping up with nicotine.

Your fingers are stained, your lungs feel heavy and every morning that cough seems to last longer. You see you have spent a fortune on cigarettes and all you got in return was having to stand outside at restaurants and family functions.

Of course you realise that you are not your smoking habit, but unfortunately society sees you as the person who is quickly becoming the social outcast, people treat you differently, especially when they can smell tobacco on you.

Judgements are made about you, perhaps unfairly, but you are up against an increasingly negative bias against smokers. You then get the bad news from the doctor, a strange feeling in your chest which you tried to ignore turned out to be the very thing that you felt sure would never affect you.

I’m sure this isn’t how you expected your life to pan out, the good news is that you can consign most of this to the past and move on. Plus hopefully you can head off any of the serious consequences, and you will absolutely have a lot more cash freed up for the important things in life.

Quitting can appear to be too hard for many people who have smoked for a long time and had a strong relationship with cigarettes, even if it’s not the kind of relationship you would tolerate with another person.

One where your so called friend steals from your wallet daily, keeps you away from others and eventually takes your health as well. Hypnosis is the most successful way to quit, add to that specific conscious strategies and you have a powerful combination to free you from that habit which turned into a potential nightmare.

Quitting Smoking…The London Blitz Connection

March 28, 2015 by

Hi Future Non Smoker

Quitting Smoking…The London Blitz Connection

Just when I think I’ve heard every story about starting smoking a new one comes along. During world war 2 people sheltered in underground tunnels during the bombing raids. The London blitz was prolonged and deadly.

A client, whose husband had lived through the Blitz as a child, began smoking because children were routinely given cigarettes as a way to manage the stress of the bombings. After many failed attempts he finally managed to quit in his late sixties when serious health problems prevailed.

Smoking is all about connections to places, feelings, people etc, so can you image how powerful the connection to cigarettes for this man, who as a child cowered in poorly lit tunnels, full of people experiencing a truly terrifying experience.

The fear he would have felt drawing on a cigarette as bombs rained down from the sky, would have created an extremely powerful link, which remained with him for decades.

Every time he tried to quit, he was overwhelmed by stress and couldn’t manage without his smokes, until his failing health forced him to push through and finally succeed.

I’ve discussed in previous articles why smoking doesn’t relieve stress, it’s a matter of simple biochemistry, nicotine gives a short relief in the brain, followed by a release of stress hormones from the adrenals.

A connection between smoking and stress comes about either from a gradual exposure to seeing others smoke when stressed, and adopting the same habit, or as in this gentlemans case exposure during a period or incidence of high stress.

This connection came back to haunt him each time he tried to quit. You may be experiencing similar difficulties, but the good news is that the man in this article could have broken free decades earlier and so to you can free yourself from the chains of smoking.

The reason that hypnosis is so effective in helping people to quit is that it gently and easily pries apart the connections and shatters the beliefs which keep you lighting up whenever a stressful situation arises.

Because most people in the western world are non-smokers you have regular opportunities to see that the bulk of people survive their lives without smoking and manage just fine. I can guarantee that there has never been a non-smoker who in a moment of crisis has wished for a cigarette.

You can quit, and you can manage the stress in your life, just trust in hypnosis to get you through.

Quitting Smoking…Why You Need Both Conscious And Unconscious Priming

Hi Future Non Smoker

Quitting Smoking…Why You Need Both Conscious And Unconscious Priming

Priming is the action of putting a process in place which you can continue to build on. Using conscious and unconscious priming to help you to quit smoking is like have a great support team behind you.

Conscious priming is any action which will support your quit programme, some include:

  1. Cutting back on a few smokes each day.
  2. Increasing your activity levels.
  3. Delaying each cigarette by a few minutes.
  4. Deep breathing when faced with a craving.
  5. Making good food choices.
  6. Reducing alcohol intake
  7. Doing some specific relaxation such as mindfulness meditation.
  8. Starting a new habit, such as a few simple exercises or positive affirmations every time you leave the bathroom. The reason is this is something everyone does several times a day.
  9. Doing some daydreaming, seeing yourself in past smoking situations but now as a non-smoker.
  10. Creating a simple diversion, which you will do when the thought of a cigarette comes up.
  11. Take a cigarette and blow the smoke out through a tissue, take a moment to consider the implications of the sickly yellow stain on the paper.
  12. Look at each smoke and talk to it as if it were a person who you just had to get out of your life.
  13. Look in the mirror and state out loud that you have had enough and are sick to death of smoking, then take a deep breath and state that you are a non-smoker.

Obviously you won’t be doing all of these, after all if you did, then you wouldn’t have time to smoke! So pick a few and stick with them. Make these strategies a part of your smoking day.

Non conscious priming is by comparison very easy, and far more relaxing. It involves hypnosis, which is broken into several elements.

  1. The conscious priming as a mental preparation.
  2. The chat about triggers and perceived difficulties.
  3. The discussion about stress not being helped by smoking. There is usually a point of cognition when the smoker realises for themselves that it doesn’t help.
  4. The understanding of how hypnosis works, what it does and what it can’t do, for example your mind can’t be controlled.
  5. Learning that nicotine is at most a small player in smoking, it is mostly about a powerful habit.

Then you just relax into a pleasant hypnosis, this is when your old connections to smoking are released and replaced by new thoughts of breathing fresh clean air and living a long healthy life.

Quitting smoking…Why What We Think doesn’t Count

Hi Future Non Smoker

Quitting smoking…Why What We Think doesn’t Count

We like to believe that we know what we are thinking, that we know what we want and don’t want, but modern neuroscience is proven that just the opposite is often true. The standard for gaining peoples opinion, which includes quitting smoking, has been the long revered focus group.

A group of people are brought together and asked their opinions on products. In many studies smoking has been a topic, asking feedback from such things as grisly cancer images on packets to plain packaging on cigarettes.

The typical result is that people declare that these scary photos on the packets make them want to quit smoking. But put these same people in a Functional Magnetic Imaging machine, which can accurately measure brain activity and the result, is very different.

In the MRI the same graphic images of suffering smokers were flashed on a screen, instead of feeling revulsion, most people simply feel a strong craving for a cigarette. So why is, this the case?

In focus groups people apply logic to the process. After all why wouldn’t you feel bad about seeing such images, it’s only sensible, plus it’s expected, and the group dynamic comes into play.

Individuals tell me something different, they don’t have any strong feeling either way because they simply filter out the image. To then the packet and everything about it represents smoking.

Perhaps the very first time a smoker sees the graphic photos on their packet there is a moment or two of fear, which is quickly overcome as they light up there smoke. But very quickly the filtering process kicks in, and soon the smoker doesn’t even see them. You know this is true, don’t you.

Non-smokers have a strong reaction and can’t possibly understand someone doing something as crazy as smoking. Yet many of these same people will happily fill their bodies with fatty greasy food, virtually designed to block their arteries. They too have filtered out all the health warnings and have allowed their desire to overrun any health concerns.

The solution is for you to simply decide that you have had enough of smoking, in spite of the internal desires, then to use the power of hypnosis to go to the core of your unconscious mind and create a new powerful positive feeling about your life, your health and a negative feeling toward smoking.

This duel action will guarantee your success, providing you follow all the instructions given during your session.

Quitting Smoking…What does Quitting Mean Anyway?

Hi future Non Smoker

Quitting Smoking…What does Quitting Mean Anyway?

It may seem obvious that if you have stopped cigarettes that you have quit. But at what point after quitting smoking can you safely say that you are a non-smoker.

After 48 hours your blood stream will be free from nicotine. But it will take much longer for the remnants to leave your fatty tissue, however this isn’t an issue as the amount entering your blood stream at any time is minute and bundled up with hundreds of other toxic fat soluble chemicals. While this doesn’t sound very appealing it is a natural process.

It is argued that it can take 30 days to create a new habit, so it follows that the 30 day mark is very important, so you can give yourself a big pat on the back at this point.

For many smokers who have quit before there may be important time frames which will have will require some extra vigilance. It could be three months or twelve months. One client reported that he had failed three times in the past at nine months.

There was nothing magical about nine months, the first time was just bad luck, the second time was because of some anxiety about the previous time and the third time became a self-fulfilling prophecy.

He admitted when pressed that he used this as an excuse as he still liked to smoke. So knowing your patterns of behaviour may be helpful, as long as you take added care at these times.

A common reason people return to smoking is either a very stressful event or a special social event involving smokers often from the past. This is a clear indicator that fragments of the old habit are still tucked away just waiting for some event to occur.

This is where hypnosis comes into its own as a quit smoking therapy. It is the only way to clear all of those old connections and beliefs about cigarettes and any potential for returning to smoking in the future.

Hypnosis allows open access to the unconscious mind. This is where all of your connections to smoking are housed. Fortunately with the right suggestions your unconscious can be persuaded to let go of these thoughts. Then new positive healthy non-smoking ideas will gently take up those same spaces.

It’s a straight forward, completely safe and non-invasive process. It’s non-invasive because it can only happen with your full approval plus it is impossible to be manipulated in any way.

Quitting smoking…The Pathway To Success

Hi Future Non Smoker

Quitting smoking…The Pathway To Success

According To Business Guru Jim Rohn the pathways to both success and failure are just a series of steps, both simple to do and easy not to do. So how does this apply to you quitting smoking?

A very common story I hear from smokers who had quit and then returned to cigarettes is that they started with just one. This may have happened in a stressful situation, or a special event, or just a moment of alcohol fueled stupidly.

The pathway was simple, just one then 2 or 3 a day and soon within weeks back to being a full smoker. At any point in the first few days they could have made a simple decision and just stopped, but it was so easy to keep going.

The good news is that you can reverse engineer the process to help you to quit simply and easily. Like any major change in life this comes with a decision. That is, a no going back cross your heart and hope to die type of decision.

But there are a couple of simple steps before that. Firstly you must find a couple of whys. The first why, is why to stop. You know all the common reasons plus a few of your own; these whys are the things you want to leave behind in your life. The next why, is why be a non-smoker, this may feel like the same but it is a positive set of reasons which will draw you into the future.

Next simple step is to imagine yourself, surviving easily as a non-smoker. Visualise being in regular situations without a cigarette.

Now you move to clearly identifying exactly how you will feel as a non-smoker. Words such as proud, successful, clean and happy are common thoughts. So just allow those feelings into your life now!

Next just call and make an appointment with your hypnotherapist, do any homework requested of you and turn up with a strong sense of expectation of success even if you feel nervous. Then your next step on the pathway to success is to follow through on any homework given after your session.

The last step is to feel grateful for quitting and every time you see a smoker or smell a cigarette you take just a moment to congratulate yourself for having done such an important thing for yourself and you loved ones.

I’m sure you can see that all of these steps to non-smoking success are do-able.
