Quitting Smoking…How Can You be Partly Successful

A 20 per day smoker who has been that way for many years may believe it is difficult to believe they can quit easily. However using hypnosis most people can and do quit quickly, but sometimes a person only partially quits.

Perhaps they reduce down to maybe just five a day. So what is happening, it looks like it partially worked. And that’s exactly what happened. Imagine your subconscious is like a filling cabinet, with a file marked smoking.

If you only partially quit there are two possibilities.

1. The smoker was not 100% percent committed to quitting.

2. There was an important piece of information not shared with his practitioner, such as a specific trigger or a favourite place to smoke. Either way the smoker was left with a part of him or her or a file which was still active.

You could be excused for thinking that the hypnosis just didn’t work. My experience tells me that if that was the case then there would have been no reduction in the smoking at all. So what to do next? The time it takes for the client to advise me of this still smoking problem is very telling.

If they call me within a day or two it’s most likely a missed trigger, but if I’m contacted two or more weeks later, then there is a good chance that this client lacked a certain amount of commitment in the first place. This suspicion is made more solid when the person’s partner made the initial booking and was the one to follow up.

If this has happened to you then deep down you will know what happened, so you will know what needs to be done when you do a follow up session. More importantly is if you are yet to quit and either you are a little reluctant or being a little causal in your preparation.

Firstly make sure you carefully consider your history and your triggers and report all of this information to your hypnotist. Even more importantly take a hard look at your commitment to quit. Remember that you have to do this for yourself and not for your partner or anyone else in your life.

Please don’t make the mistake of thinking your hypnotist will work their magic, and all you have to do is sit back and it will happen for you. You must bring 100% commitment to the party.

Quitting Smoking…I don’t Want To Look Like A Bogan

In the words of a recent client “I’m sick of smoking I don’t want to look like a bogan anymore. According to Wikipedia in Australia and New New Zealand, bogan is a term for an individual who is recognised to be from an unsophisticated background or someone whose speech, clothing, attitude and behaviour exemplify a lack of manners and education.

This woman is a professional person who feels that smoking is completely out of character with the rest of her life. She eats well, she always looks well groomed, but when she sneaks off to smoke she feels like a bogan.

She felt she was letting herself down, but try as she might she couldn’t quit smoking. These feelings only became worse as more and more laws were enacted to make public smoking more difficult. She found herself smoking at lunch time in side alleys, as smoking was banned in the business area she worked in.

Sometimes she struck up interesting conversations with fellow smokers, but just as often she found herself with people who only re-enforced her own negative image of herself.

This is to not pass judgement, as people from every strata of society smoke, these were her thoughts, and as such were important to her. Even more importantly these same thoughts became a strong motivation for her to quit.

An increasing number of smokers hide away, from others, ashamed or embarrassed to let the world know that they are still one of the cigarettes using clan.

In fact one of the best pieces of advice I can give to a smoker is, just observe non-smokers going
about their day. See them when they are relaxed, stressed, busy, thinking, bored, eating or
drinking.

The non-smokers are managing just fine without any assistance from cigarettes. Focusing on all the
reasons you think you need to smoke is just making it very hard for you. You can’t quit when you
think your life is so dependent on smoking.

The first thing to do is to look at the list and just think about it. And as you start to realise that
smoking doesn’t make anything better. It doesn’t help you to relax or think, or drive better, or hold a
better conversation on the phone.

All it does is cost you a lot a money, make you smell like an ashtray, and strip away fourteen years
of life on average. And did I mention the slow painful lingering death.

When clients, who want to quit smoking in Toowoomba attend my clinic, they fill out a questionnaire. They have to tick the boxes beside any methods they have tried and failed before. Acupuncture, nicotine patches, nicotine gum, Zyban, Champix, will power & hypnosis.

A small percentage tick the lot. I have to admit that when I see all the boxes ticked, that a part of me
braces for the challenge ahead. I ask about their past failed attempts and why they have come to this

People have many stories, and usually a degree of anxiety at the prospect of trying again. They

Who likes to start their day with a coffee? Well if you’re like me then that first coffee is essential to get going. Smokers in Toowoomba typically like to start their day with a smoke and a hot brew.

I’m sure of all have heard the frequent media reports about how good coffee is for you. The latest research shows that coffee improves life extension in all areas, with the extent of cancer. This is fantastic news.

about their day. See them when they are relaxed, stressed, busy, thinking, bored, eating or
drinking.

The non-smokers are managing just fine without any assistance from cigarettes. Focusing on all the
reasons you think you need to smoke is just making it very hard for you. You can’t quit when you
think your life is so dependent on smoking.

The first thing to do is to look at the list and just think about it. And as you start to realise that
smoking doesn’t make anything better. It doesn’t help you to relax or think, or drive better, or hold a
