Quit Smoking Sunshine Coast…How To Get Into The 5%

June 18, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

It is said that 70% of all smokers would like to quit at any time. Yet only a small number are actively seeking and using solutions at any time.

I once read that in any area of life only 5% of people when offered a solution to a problem will follow through on this solution. It doesn’t matter whether it is losing weight, learning to play a musical instrument, solving financial issues, using a newly acquired skill or quitting smoking.

It doesn’t make any logical sense, but over the years this 5% figure just kept coming up over and over again and again.

The reason is simple, a part of you wants to quit smoking, you see all the ads on television, all ugly pictures on the cigarette packets, your doctor and family and friends are on your back to quit smoking…But you just can’t seem to fully commit yourself, and you are not even sure why.

Another part of you is fighting you, distracting you and throwing up reasons for not quitting. Such as I’ve been smoking for years and I’m OK, or well we all have to die from something, or how about I need something to do with my hands, or the classic, what will I do when I’m bored.

There are dozens of reasons, and none of them hold up to close inspection, even the tried and true, I’m addicted, what can i do. Well if you’re addicted then we can assume all smokers are as well, after all that’s what the experts tell us, right.

But what about the millions world wide who quit each year. Surely they were addicted as well. The reason they were able to finally quit, is that their addiction was just another excuse, and when they finally realised that nicotine addiction at its worst is a short term problem, and at best it;s absolutely nothing.

But to truly get these ideas about quitting firmly into your brain, and join the 5% who successfully take action you will need rapid change quit smoking hypnosis. In just one session of 90 minutes you can shift from a life-long dedicated smoker, to being a non smoker.

Why? Because just wanting to quit using your conscious mind willpower has a low chance of success. Hypnosis goes to the deep recesses of your mind and weeds out all your excuses and fears about quitting, quickly and easily.

Quit Smoking…What Does Not committed Yet Really Mean!

Hi Future Non Smokers

I occasionally have a client cancel their quit smoking appointment, the most common reason is that they feel they are not committed to quit yet. I agree that in order to quit smoking successfully it does require a complete commitment to the process.

But what does it mean to be not committed to quit, especially if you have made an appointment only to cancel. Or if you have been carrying a business card or flyer of a hypnosis quit specialist for some time and you haven’t called.

What it means in plain language is that you are not committed to yourself. Not committed to your future or your health, or your finances or your quality of life.

It means you are more committed to filling your body and brain with toxic chemicals, more committed to cancer or emphysema or diabetes than to your own well being. More committed to a future full of oxygen bottles or doctor’s surgeries or hospital beds than you are to a healthy happy future.

Sure you might enjoy smoking, it might relax you or stop you from being bored. It may be nice with a coffee or a beer, but the benefits are tiny and the risks are huge.

The first thing to do is go and stand in front of a mirror. Look yourself in the eye and say out loud. Smoking is much better than quitting, it doesn’t matter if I get lung cancer or throat cancer, it doesn’t matter if I’m choking from lack of breath due to emphysema. It doesn’t matter because smoking is so absolutely wonderful.

How does this feel. How does this really feel when you look yourself in the eye and say these words. If it feels ok and you have a bit of a laugh, then stop reading immediately and go and light up a smoke and enjoy the moment.

But if you feel uneasy when you say it, then look again and say outloud with real emotion, I’m sick and tired of smoking, I’m sick of being controlled by cigarettes, sick to the stomach of ruining my health. Right now I finally commit myself 100% to quitting smoking for life.

I fully commit to caring for myself and reclaiming my health and my self-respect. Then make that call to your Rapid Change Quit smoking specialist, turn up on time, and fully engage yourself in the process. And keep your resolve strong and never ever give in again.

Why Quitting Smoking Isn’t As Hard As Your Doctor Says

June 10, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non smokers

Traditionally in medical circles quitting smoking has been considered very difficult by doctors. It is not their fault. They are educated with this belief. They are inundated with pharmaceutical company marketing extolling the virtues of their products.

But this message comes with a strange spin. It’s that the doctors patients will probably have to use these drugs several times. The pharmaceutical world has successfully trained both doctors and patients to expect to fail and to expect to buy the drugs many times.

If you have problems with a heart medication, or anti depressant or cholesterol medication, then your doctor will recommend a different drug you until you find the right one for you.

But if a patient fails on a smoking drug they will most likely be encouraged to try the same drug again.

A few important points.

  1. Your doctor cares for your wellbeing and wants you to quit smoking.
  2. Your doctor has your best intentions at heart.
  3. Your doctor is assailed by drug companies.
  4. Your doctor has limited therapeutic choices, nicotine replacement, Champix or Zyban.
  5. Your doctor is influenced by government quit smoking programmes.

A few more important points.

  1. Nicotine replacement therapy has virtually no benefit. Macquarie university.
  2. Champix is not a safe drug increasing a smokers risk of heart attack by 70%. John Hopkins university.
  3. Smoking is not about drug dependency, it’s about very powerful deeply ingrained habits and associations.
  4. Hypnosis is scientifically regarded as the most successful means of quitting smoking.
  5. Rapid Change Hypnosis is 95% successful.
  6. Hypnosis is completely safe.

As a smoker it is critical that you stop listening to anyone who tells you how difficult it is. There is a myth that quitting cigarettes is harder than hereon. But we do not see rehabilitation clinics for smokers.

Smokers don’t curl up in the foetal position on the floor, throwing themselves at the walls, screaming in pain,  suffering vomiting or diarrhoea. No smokers might feel angry, or get headaches, they might feel cravings in their stomach.

There has been so much incorrectly said and believed about smoking that many smokers become convinced that it will be very difficult or that they may never succeed.

One of the most comments that rapid change hypnosis ex smokers say is that they can’t believe how easy it was, and that they wish they had done it years before.

Quit Smoking By Boosting Your Self Respect

Hi Future Non Smokers

Quit Smoking By Boosting Your Self Respect

As a smoker it’s easy to get caught up in all the fear based quit programmes and all the gory images on cigarette packages. On the other hand there are all your reasons that you smoke. It’s a friend, it helps you relax, manages your stress and boredom etc.

But have you ever considered that quitting above all else, above all the health risks and saved money is reclaiming your-self respect.

If you smoke you do not respect yourself. You may not agree but think for a moment. A smoker doesn’t respect their health, the health of those around them, or their family. A smoker doesn’t respect their money, their energy or their future.

When a person disrespect’s themselves in one major area of their lives, it is difficult to maintain a high level of respect in other areas.

Most smokers don’t do the exercise they would like to do, as they feel that exercise is pointless while they smoke.

Smokers who have to stand outside to smoke in the cold while their family or friends enjoy themselves are conflicted. They don’t respect their time and are prepared to waste some of their precious moments which can never be recaptured, just to smoke.

You may strongly disagree but it is impossible to respect yourself while you continue to in hail 4000 toxic chemicals multiple times every day. I put it to you that smoking is one of the most significant acts of disrespect you can do to yourself.

You can take back you health and reclaim yourself respect, simply by quitting smoking. It may seem too difficult but it is possible. Rapid change hypnosis is the most effective way to quit. Suggestions made to help you quit easily are woven with conversations about you deeply respecting yourself and never ever going back to your old habits.

Gently and easily introducing powerful feelings and desires of self respect will impact every area of your life. Subtly leading you to make healthy choices in diet and exercise. Leading you to into a bright future, a healthy happy future free from cigarettes.

Free from the internal conflict that anyone who smokes naturally experiences. The conflict between wanting to smoke and wanting to quit. But by deciding to reclaim yourself respect you can break this bind you are in.

By deciding that self respect is important in your life you have taken the first step in reclaiming your life.

How To Quit Smoking When You Have Depression

June 3, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

Quitting smoking can be a challenge at the best of times, but it can be made harder for those who suffer from depression. I’m not talking about people who feel a bit down at time.

I’m referring to those people who been medically diagnosed with depression and are either on medication of seeing a therapist regularly.

It can be difficult at times for these people to make clear decisions, and they tend to fall back on cigarettes heavily when they are experiencing dark times.

With true depression there is usually a brain chemistry imbalance. Nicotine is a brain altering toxin, which releases feel good chemicals. The reward centre of the brain will be activated when they smoke, but this feeling is short lived and if they continue to smoke their stress will be increased as the nicotine drives their adrenals to release stress hormones.

A person having a bad day may get some temporary relief from a couple of smokes but will get worse as they continue to smoke.

So how can a depressed person quit smoking?

  1. You need to realise that smoking is making your depression worse. Think of a time you were very stressed or you saw someone stressed. They or you were chain smoking in the mistaken belief that they would feel better.

For the first couple of smokes this is actually true, but with more smokes your anxiety just gets worse and worse. You might even be sucking the life out of the cigarette in a vain attempt to get some more of the feel good reward.

Once you clearly understand this and believe this you will be able to move forward.

 1. Discuss with your doctor your desire to quit and ask for advice on the best anti depressant to use while quitting. Zyban is an anti depressant as well as aid for quitting. Champix is contra-indicated for depression and can be dangerous.

 2. Do the best you can, and this will be on good days, to eat well and get some exercise.

 3. Take a good multi vitamin and the herb Avena Sativa, which helps with addictions and strengthens your nervous system. Avena Sativa or Oats as it is commonly known is suitable to be used with medications.

 4. Seek out Rapid Change Hypnosis to help you break the habit of smoking, which is deeply ingrained.

While it may be challenging for you to quit smoking while depressed, it can be done with the right support and the right strategies.

Why Quitting Smoking Isn’t As Difficult As The media Claim It To Be

May 30, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi future Non Smokers

If you believed the media then nobody would be able to quit. The common line is that it can take many attempts to quit and that smoking is the most difficult drug to quit and that most people will fail many times.

How on earth can this media opinion be of any value to anyone? And that’s all it is an opinion. If they want to discus smoking they just trot out the old limited thinking that its very hard. Perhaps they do this to make smokers feel better about themselves and their failed attempts.

10 Tips To Quit

1.Forget your failed attempts and re-label them as unsuccessful outcomes. You haven’t failed you just haven’t found the best way for you, yet.

 2. Talk to people who have quit, and they will tell you how much better they feel, don’t ask those who still believe it’s too hard. Many of them don’t want to quit anyway.

 3. Begin to accept that soon you will be a non smoker, don’t worry about how you will do it just become convinced that you will succeed.

 4. Start talking to each cigarette as if it is some disgusting person you wouldn’t want to be around. Do this especially if you consider your smokes to be your friend.

 5. As Yoda would say “Do not Try” decide to quit, decide you will succeed.

 6. Book in for a Rapid Change Quit Smoking Hypnosis session. By doing the previous six steps you will have prepared the ground for a successful quit cigarettes experience.

 7. Approach the session with a strong feeling of wanting to quit and expecting to quit.

 8. See yourself as a non smoker even before your session. Imagine or daydream that when you leave the session you will be completely free from smoking for life.

 9. After your session do some deep breathing and enjoy the clean fresh air entering your lungs, knowing that with every breath you take you are sending healing life giving oxygen to every cell in your body.

 10. Enjoy your new healthy life, and be grateful every day that you are a non smoker

10 Wrong Assumptions About Quitting smoking

May 26, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

There has been a strong social and medical focus on quitting smoking for at least five decades. During this time many urban myths have surfaced about smoking and how difficult it is to quit. But like most urban myths and beliefs they don’t stand up to close scrutiny.

  1. It is difficult to quit. Instead of listening to those people who have failed listen to the hundreds of thousands who quit successfully every year.
  2. I need to smoking to manage my stress and relax. Firstly nicotine creates anxiety and then look at the 78% of the population who don’t smoke and notice they find ways to handle stress.
  3. Smoking stops me from being bored. Sucking smoke into your lungs is no way to stimulate your mind, or handle boredom, the rest of the world manages so why not you.
  4. I need to smoke to think clearly. It’s stopping and taking a break that helps you to think, filling your brain with oxygen depleted blood and 4000 toxic chemicals is a crazy why to try and think.
  5. I’m addicted to nicotine. This is the biggest con of all. Firstly recent university studies confirm that nicotine replacement doesn’t work. Will power is even more successful. It’s all the re-enforced habits of smoking.
  6. I don’t have any willpower. You have tons of will power don’t sell yourself short. It’s just that you have to fight your unconscious mind which has been trained to keep you smoking.
  7. I won’t know what to do with my hands. Again look at the world around you; the millions out there aren’t struggling with their hands. You will easily adapt.
  8. Cigarettes are my friend. Wow what a terrible friend. It robs you of your health, it steals your money and it lies to you about how good it is to smoke.
  9. I have plenty of time to quit, I’m still young. You may be right or you may be completely wrong, like my 30 year old client who is coughing up blood. You could roll the dice or you could quit.
  10. Hypnosis will control my mind and it doesn’t work anyway. Rule number one hypnosis cannot make you do anything that you don’t want to do. In the conservative world of medicine hypnosis is a recognised therapy.

As you can see you may have made many wrong assumptions. Using rapid change hypnosis to quit will just bi-pass all those wrong beliefs.

Why Electronic Cigarettes Are Just A Way To Fool yourself.

May 22, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

Recently I was walking through a market and I saw a stall holder who was selling electronic cigarettes. It was early in the day and there weren’t many people around as yet. The funny thing was that the stall holder was smoking a real cigarette. I couldn’t help but laugh. I was thinking he obviously didn’t have much faith in his product.

The idea is that by sucking on a fake cigarette your smoking needs will be meet. The sensation of drawing smoke is offered. Nicotine vapours are said to stop the smoking cravings. But other compounds such as anti freeze, and other chemicals found in cigarettes have been found.

Some schools in the USA are banning these electronic smokes as they don’t differentiate real cigarettes from the fake version. The health concerns are now beginning to surface, but the long term effects can’t be gauged as they haven’t been available long enough.

Those smokers who have presented at my clinic to quit smoking who have used the fake cigarette in an effort to quit smoking have all returned to the real thing.

The reason being is that the experience of using the electronic cigarette is close to the real thing, so much so that it keeps the desire alive and eventually most smokers decide that they might as well enjoy the real thing instead of some poor imitation.

Successfully quitting smoking requires that you divorce yourself 100% from any aspect of smoking. As long as you retain a connection to smoking you are just a step away from starting again. And smoking a pretend cigarette is psychologically keeping you connected to your old habit, and bound to lead to a relapse.

Of all the ways to attempt to quit smoking I believe the use of artificial cigarette is the least likely way to have you quit smoking, and the most likely way to lead you back to smoking quickly.

Hypnosis is well known as the most successful way to quit, because it helps you to break your emotional ties, which is the exact opposite way that electronic cigarettes attempt to do.

The only people who may benefit from pretend cigarettes are those who acknowledge that smoking is dangerous, and fear for their health, but don’t really want to quit. So they convince themselves that they are doing something to help themselves.

But at best they are just temporarily avoiding real cigarettes. Rapid Change Hypnosis is a very successful way to finally quit smoking without having to fool yourself.

Quitting Smoking On The sunshine Coast Even If you Have No Willpower

May 16, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non smokers

Millions of smokers have tried to quit by themselves and have failed, some multiple times. Each attempt convinces them further that they have no will power. In fact just the opposite is the reality.

You have used willpower all your life to achieve both the big complex things and the simple day to day more mundane things.

You were able to use your will power for all these things because you had either no subconscious resistance or little resistance, or the payoff was so good that you overcame that resistance and achieved it anyway.

There are several problems with using will power to quit smoking.

  1. You have most likely heard countless stories from smokers and via the media and the medical world that will power isn’t successful for most smokers.
  2. Because you failed before you now believe that you don’t have any willpower and you probably even say as much in your conversations with friends, family and doctors.
  3. Your subconscious is fighting you every inch of the way.

They say it takes 30 days to create a new habit. So just imagine how ingrained the habit of smoking is when perhaps you have smoked for 20 a day for 20 years. That’s 146,000 smokes. Now you can begin to see how powerful you habit is.

And habit is the word. The habit of smoking with a coffee, with driving or on the phone is purely just that a habit. If you had a smoke with just two coffees a day for that 20 years it would be 14,600 cigarettes with a brew. Now that is a habit.

We are not talking about a nicotine addiction we are discussing a very powerful deeply ingrained habit. When you light up when the phone rings you don’t suddenly have a biochemical need for nicotine.

Your desire for a smoke when the phone rings is a conditioned emotional response to repeatedly doing the same thing thousands of times. Just like a cat will come running at the sound of a can opener.

Rapid Change Hypnosis makes it easier for you to quit because it bypasses your conscious resistance. Hypnosis goes directly to the heart of the problem. Straight to your subconscious file that has all the reasons and excuses for smoking deeply lodged in your mind.

Then it will accept suggestion that will automatically break your smoking connections for life.

How Sunshine Coast Smokers With Major Stress Issues Can Quit

Hi Future Non Smokers

How Sunshine Coast Smokers With Major Stress Issues Can Quit

We all have stress in our lives, and we find various ways of managing it. But how do you make a major change like quitting cigarettes when you have a strong stress.

To just bite the bullet and quit when severely stressed you will reduce your chances of success, in spite of the best methods used. So the solution is to tackle your issues in the right order. The major stress must be managed or reduced before you tackle smoking.

How you handle your stress is your business but in clinic I find EFT, emotional freedom Technique to be very successful in giving people the power and the capacity to manage their lives. EFT works on the principles of Acupuncture, with two benefits. 1. You don’t need to be stuck with needles and 2. You can use EFT any time you need to.

Once the stress is reduced then you will be able to tackle your smoking addiction. With the help of Rapid Change Hypnosis you will quickly and simply release the hold that nicotine has over your mind and your body.

If you attempt to quit without addressing your stress then if the stress spikes or overwhelms you it’s likely you will return to smoking. I assist clients in this situation in a two step or two consultation process.

  1. Work directly with them using EFT to start the stress reduction process.
  2. Teach them to use it for themselves at home.
  3. Rapid Change Hypnosis to quit smoking.

It’s important to note that major stresses from the past can be managed very successfully with EFT, in a reasonable time frame, but ongoing stresses will need to be managed sometimes on a day to day basis. EFT is still the solution.

All ex smokers face the prospect of some big stress coming along out of the blue and throwing a difficult challenge at them to remain a non smoker. This is a perfect time for EFT, but if you don’t know how to apply it then you must keep your reasons for quitting right in the front of your mind and fight any temptation.

It will pass and if you don’t smoke you will feel good about that decision, and you can get on with your life, but if you do give in and light up, then you simply have another problem in your life you have to deal with.

Can You Quit Smoking And Alcohol At The Same Time?

May 8, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

Can You Quit Smoking And Alcohol At The Same Time?

Most people who smoke drink as well. That’s not surprising simply because most people drink to some extent.

But those who drink mostly have a strong connection between smoking and drinking. Many report smoking only a few a day until they start drinking and then they can lash out and have a whole packet.

The problem with alcohol is that once you cross a certain line of consumption your brain literally turns its smart switch of. Then it’s easy for the old habit can easily resurface. The solution when you quit smoking is to have a quit buddy who will help you avoid the smokes.

It can pay to ask your smoking friends for support. If they won’t help you then you might have to avoid drinking with that group for awhile. Most people will help but occasionally someone can see your success as their failure and try and lure you back to smoking. You know your friends, who is likely to do that?

Another group of smokers have a different problem. They start smoking heavily as soon as they start drinking. This means that the quit process must be closely linked to alcohol consumption. The hypnosis process will need to focus heavily on breaking the emotional connections with alcohol.

This can take some serious commitment from a smoker because their social life is so strongly connected with alcohol.

The next group is a  person who isn’t a social drinker but prefers to stay at home and drink and smoke. There are issues of boredom  loneliness, or stress to be addressed. Smoking fills in gaps in their lives. The gaps will need to be addressed when they quit cigarettes or they will find their way back to smoking if they feel low.

The last group is alcoholics. The strong desire to drink and to meet their emotional needs is often linked to smoking or other drugs. Instant gratification and reward, plus a desire to avoid the emotional pain they are feeling.

If you are this person then hypnosis is important for you to break your emotional connections to cigarettes and alcohol. But this therapy must be supported by specific medical therapy to assist with the alcohol. Rehab, medications, counselling may all be vital in order to achieve complete success.

Rapid Change hypnosis is a valuable tool in assisting any smoker to quit when they have strong social, emotional or addictive connections to alcohol.

How Sunshine Coast Smokers Can Quit When They Are Under Stress

April 30, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non smokers

If you ask any smoker for a main reason that they smoke, the number one reason they give is that they need to smoke to control their stress. Many of these same people will decide that they have had enough of cigarettes or their body is showing signs of illness.

So the catch 22 is that they are stressed and they want to quit but their only stress management technique is to smoke.

So how can you manage to quit while stressed?

  1. Have a close look at the people you know who are non smokers. How are they surviving? Are they struggling because they don’t smoke, do you feel sorry for them because they don’t have an obvious outlet for their stress.

Or do you notice that they are no worse off than you, in spite of not having nicotine to rely on to manage their lives. Your first step is to realise that non smokers do just fine with cigarettes and maybe you could to.

  1. Next is to understand that smoking itself places a big physical stress on your body. Every cell, nook and cranny is negatively affected by smoking. This stress only adds to your overall stress levels. So again smoking isn’t helping your stress at all.

  1. The most important thing to know is that smoking doesn’t actually relieve stress. But you’re probably thinking that when you are stressed you have a smoke and you feel better, so what’s going on?

Here is the sequence of events: You feel stressed, so you decide to smoke, because this is what you have done thousands of times and you have become conditioned to immediately reach for a cigarette.

You light up your smoke and the first thing you do is to take a deep breath. Just the act of deep breathing is enough to make changes in our brain which lower stress.

Quickly the chemicals in your blood stream go to your brain and hit the reward centre which releases feel good chemicals such as dopamine. This is good news so far but…

The next thing that happens in your body is that your brain releases adrenalin. It’s this release that gives smokers a boost with their coffee first thing in the morning. After the adrenalin comes the stress hormone cortisol.

So the trail leads to the release of a stress hormone which makes us feel bad. What starts out as an action to relieve stress is now clearly seen to cause stress.

This is most clearly seen when someone is very stressed and chain smoke. The stressed person should become relaxed if smoking really helps, but the chain smoker will just become more anxious and will literally suck the life out of each subsequent smoke in the hope that it will help. But it doesn’t!

Long Term Success For Sunshine Coast x-Smokers

April 26, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non Smokers

It’s one thing to quit smoking for a week or a month but another to remain a non smoker for the long run. In order to succeed you need to be very clear about your potential challenges.

The most common are.

  1. Alcohol. This is literally a no-brainer, because drinking can literally turn your brain off. The casualty departments and newspapers are full of people who have done stupid things while under the influence.

Once you drink beyond a certain level it is very hard to make rational decisions. You will need a strategy in place to protect yourself. If you drink at home its easy. Just don’t have any smokes handy. But if your guests smoke then you will need help.

Some of your friends will support your efforts but some will make it difficult for you. Find a friend who will back you up once you have had too much to drink, if you can’t trust yourself.

  1. 2. Stress.

You may be cruising alone as a non smoker but then something very stressful happens in your life. Somewhere in the deep dark recesses of your mind the thought emerges that smoking will make your stress better.

You will notice two things, firstly the cigarette tastes terrible and secondly your stress is still the same. Smoking never has and never will relieve stress. You will need to find a way to manage your stress in your life. Exercise, relaxation, meditation, going to the beach, etc

It doesn’t matter how you do it, just start doing a few things you enjoy and keep doing them until they are a part of your life. If you don’t you will be tempted to smoke again should you become stressed.

As tip notice the non smokers in your life. What do they do ? how do they handle stress? One thing you know for certain is that they don’t light up a cigarette.

  1. 3. Curiosity.

The old saying is that curiosity killed the cat. Who knows if that is true, but curiosity about smoking will probably kill you! If you are tempted to have just one smoke to see what will happen, then don’t. There is no such thing as one smoke,  it is highly likely that you will become a smoker again.

If you try one to see if you are completely over cigarettes then don’t. You will fail, and you will again be a smoker.

If you have a smoke to prove to others that you are complexly over smokes, then again you will fail.

Don’t be curious, do manage your stress, and be careful around alcohol and you will be fine for the long run.

Quitting Smoking On The Sunshine Coast By Clarifying Your Reason

April 22, 2013
Filed under how to quit smoking

Hi Future Non smokers

Most smokers who want to quit are conflicted by the prospect. They know all the reasons why, but they still feel connected to cigarettes. To help you quit you need to become very clear about two things.

  1. Why do you smoke? This is not a simple question. What exactly is the feeling you are chasing when you light up? Every human behaviour is governed by a desire to feel a certain way. E.g.

A person can buy a functional car but chooses a luxury model to feel a certainly way.

Someone drinks too much alcohol to avoid certain feelings but to experience others. So what feeling are you chasing with cigarettes. The answer may be obvious or take some soul searching to find. But it is critical that you do find it.

The reason you need to do this is because you will have to find another way to get the feeling you chased from smoking.

If you can’t work out what feeling you are chasing then maybe you can find what feeling you are avoiding!

Boredom? Or Stress ? Can’t concentrate? Feel nervous perhaps. Once you can identify what you don’t want then you can work out how you will want to feel.

If smoking allowed you to relax and take some time out to clear your mind then its critical that you find a new way to achieve this before you quit.

Boredom is not easily solved. Everyone can get bored, not everyone uses smoking to fill gaps in their lives. Smokers and non smokers alike feel bored at times, it’s just life.

  1. Be clear on the number one, absolute reason for quitting. What do you want for yourself more than anything else.  Vague reasons such as health won’t cut it. If it was health related, stating that you want to be 100% healthy when your children have their children is better.

  1. Vague reasons won’t help you if the going gets tough, if you get tempted or if you become very stressed, but having your reason clearly etched in your mind will.

These two things are important information when using rapid change hypnosis.
Releasing you from your old connections and feelings will set you free from cigarettes and focussing on your core reasons for quitting will further implant the new thoughts you have about yourself. That is that you are a non smoking fresh air breathing person for life.

How To quit smoking On The sunshine Coast Without Gaining Weight

Hi Future Non Smokers

How to Quit Smoking And Not Gain Weight

One of the common concern among Sunshine Coast smokers is that they will gain weight when they quit smoking. It’s not just an urban myth that many people do gain a few kilos when they quit cigarettes, it happens very often.

But, it doesn’t have to be the case.

There are two reasons why people gain weight after they quit.

  1. Many smokers use cigarettes in the mistaken belief that the nicotine is managing their stress and helping them to relax. When quit they simply turn to the next thing to deal with stress. For some it may be exercise but for many people it is food.

It’s not just and food, it is specifically carbohydrates. And it’s not usually quality carbohydrates like vegetables or grains. It’s usually junk carbs.

For the sweet tooth its cakes, biscuits, lollies, chocolates or ice cream. For those who prefer savoury, its chips or burgers or pastries like sausage rolls or pies.

The key to preventing this transfer of stress relief from smoking to food is to create an effective programme as part of the quit smoking session. Everyone needs to manage their stress, but is is even more important for ex smokers in order to prevent them from returning to smoking.

  1. Tobacco is soaked in a concentration of 18% sugar in order to preserve it. Every time a smoker has a cigarette they receive a sugar hit. This pushes up their blood sugar. When the smoker quits they experience blood sugar problems and even without knowing why they turn to food.

The food usually the same junk carbs mentioned solve their blood sugar problems and so they continue to gain weight. The solution to this problem is to eat like a diabetic.  Eat small meals across the day. Or at least prevent hunger by eating apples, between meals.

Apples are perfect because they contain fructose for energy but when combined with the fibre in the peel the energy is delivered slowly over time. Plus apples contain pectin which creates a feeling of fullness.

The good news is that using rapid change hypnosis you can quit successfully, because of the stress management components which are built into the process, and the information you gain about how to manage your life without smoking.

By continuing to use the stress busting techniques you will enjoy a much improved life both physically and mentally, but the first step is to decide to quit.
